Imitation drugs are causing hundreds of deaths each year.

Post by Grand Nomad Lloyd on Sun Jun 15, 2008 4:34 pm

There has been a boom in the fake medicine industry recently, with medicines labeled as calpol really being a mix of nasty chemicals that taste like strawberries. I propose a discussion, and then the making of an act, that regulates the quality of all medicines. What do you think?

As my nation has just been found to be the region's least healthy, it has been shown I do not care about my NHS. It would be very harmful to many economies if this malpractice is stopped.

NHS!

Post by Grand Duke Henry on Thu Jun 26, 2008 12:15 am

The National Health Services (NHSs) of Duetaria must be maintained! I call for the Grand Nomad to propose an act that provides for their increased inter-regional funding, supplementary to my Welfare Act of March.

My NHS is merely a safety net which people can fall back on if private service fails. More funding is not needed!

De-nationalisation in DOTO?

Post by Grand Duke Henry on Thu Jun 26, 2008 8:57 pm

While I respect your dictatorship's right to autonomy, Cliff, I must inform you that, as per my Welfare Act, your NHS is not a "safety net", but a fully functioning and well-oiled machine of public service. That means, increase its efficiency!

To combat DISEASE, in each nation there will be founded a National Health Service (NHS), that will provide full medical care to all citizens of said nation unable to afford private healthcare.

This is what the welfare act states - the last bit shows how the grand duke cannot even remember his own acts. I win!

You do not "win", Cliff: the very clause that states that citizens unable to afford private healthcare are provided for by the NHS means that the NHS must be a "fully functioning" machine. Furthermore, given that there are far more impoverished citizens in dictatorships than in democracies, this would tend to imply that an NHS in a state such as DOTO needs extra funding to compensate for its gross lack of National Compassion.

Fine, I will comply to a law which does not exist.

As of two days ago, all of my citizens were ordered to purchase medical insurance. Those who did not were therfore all of the population which could not afford it. In order to comply to the act, these people were executed, meaning the entirety of my population could now afford medical insurance, and there was no-one for the NHS to cover. The NHS was then privatised.

This in no way breaks the welfare act, and I urge all other evil dictatorships to follow my actions.

If I am banned for this, it should be done in a court of law and I challenge anyone to find a law I have broken.

Wanton Violence

Post by Grand Duke Henry on Sun Jul 06, 2008 4:58 pm

You have perpetrated gross acts of wanton and unjust violence, and have manipulated clauses of the Constitution without reason and without appeal to alter them. I I can be tried for acting in Defence of Security, then you can certainly be tried for Crimes Against the Poor and Against Civil Liberties. I move for a Trial of the Secretary-General!

The only problem here is that you actually broke some laws, whereas I have merely mainipulated loopholes, which is not a crime. If you are going to try me of something at least find something that is actually illegal.

Executions

Post by Grand Duke Henry on Sun Jul 06, 2008 11:49 pm

There are no loopholes in the Welfare Act: it is watertight.

And anyway, your illegal action is, quite simply, your gross miscarriage of justice enacted through the Illegal and Inhumane Executions of Thousands of Telegram Operators, executions that violate Civil Liberties and Human Rights.

As you can see by my actions, there clearly is a loophole in the welfare act. Anyway, I have no obligation under law to comply to Human Rights as they have not, at least for now, become law.

World Assembly

Post by Grand Duke Henry on Thu Jul 10, 2008 10:26 pm

Dieter Hochkatzenburg stands in the Grand Council, sheaf of paper in hand.

"Human Rights are International Law, as stated under the Geneva Convention and ratified by both the United Nations and the World Assembly. In addition to this, the Welfare Act specifically states that "all care must be taken to preserve the high standards and compassionate service of all National Services as laid down by the Garbo Report, 21 July 1975". Therefore, the Secretary-General violated our law by not adhering to Constitutional Legislation. Thank you Ladies and Gentlemen."

He sits to hearty noises of approbation from all representatives save the Telegram Operators. Cliff shifts uneasily in his fascistic seat.
