As the poles now close I announce that Shortman is the new WA Delegate!!! I ask him to make his opening speech and send me the list of his cabinet so that I can change them. Now please everyone remove your endorsement from Ravenburg Morovia and add it to Potato farmers

Mistake

Post by Grand Duke Henry on Sat Jun 21, 2008 8:06 pm

Shortman cannot be Delegate: he has to run with a Deputy on his ticket under CONSTITUTIONAL LAW. After he announces said Deputy on his ticket, then I shall of course vote for him and not for the Candidate of Dissatisfaction.

Calm down. The new WA delegate can take a short time to select a suitable candidate and if i didn't trust you implicitly, i would suspect you of hanging onto power.

Calm? I'm practically somnolent!

Post by Grand Duke Henry on Sat Jun 21, 2008 11:05 pm

I am calm, Clarkeos. Technically, under our Constitution, the Delegate-elect(s) must run with a Deputy - so in other words, I am trying to hurry up the transfer of power. Just stick to misspellings from now on...

The Wheel of Time turns, and Ages come and pass, leaving memories that become legend. Legend fades to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the Age that gave it birth comes again. *First lines from books all of you should read there called the wheel of time* Well a new group is in power for another month.

Speeches!

Post by Grand Duke Henry on Sun Jun 22, 2008 3:29 pm

Can Shortman please make an inaugural speech? It will probably be much better than "An end to all pugnacious politics" or whatever tripe Lloyd wrote...

i was promised the place of deputy by Shortman, if i stopped my campaign in order to support him. that is what i have done and as such i expect that he rethinks his cabinet before something un-toward happens!

Richtenburg Memorandum

Post by Grand Duke Henry on Mon Jun 23, 2008 8:58 pm

Chancellor Mettenburg rises to make a retort in the Grand Council Hall. Lady Speaker Page bangs her gravel for silence hastily.

"Ladies and gentlemen of Duetaria," begins Mettenburg grandly, "over the course of two days' heated debate with the honourable President Shortman, my Interior Minister, Richtenburg, was able to set out a memorandum that provided for the apolitical alliance and pragmatic coalition of Emperor Alexandros and the Trade Republic. Under this manifesto, I was to be appointed Deputy Delegate and the emperor receive some high-ranking governmental post - namely, now, the vice-chairmanship and strategic control of the Subcommittee for Policy Towards the Greek Pirates. In return, of course, we would back the president. This was the most weighty, and the most singularly important 'deal' brokered over the course of this Third Election campaign, and if the Grand Nomad is irked that he has been gently discharged to the political peripheries of Duetaria, then I ask that in July he not allow his campaign to fall at the first hurdle!"

Laughter breaks out, and clapping begins, but Mettenburg continues.

"Furthermore, friends, I should also ask what the Grand Nomad's 'untoward' action can be when he has already voted for President Shortman? I assume that he will vote for the Candidate of Dissatisfaction!"

Raucous laughter again erupts in the hall as Mettenburg sits triumphantly.

May I in my weary state please point out that the election is over and you can't vote for the dissatisfaction as there is no vote being held

Can I make a point here that Lloyd is entitled to the deputy position as the constitution that they must run on the same ticket, and the deputy cannot be kicked by the delegate. When I was still in the cabinet, we debated it at great length, so this action is illegal and if it is not rectified he is justified in seeking immediate legal action.

Oh you whining backbencher, Cliff!

Post by Grand Duke Henry on Thu Jun 26, 2008 12:10 am

Actually, Grand Nomad Lloyd never ran officially on President Shortman's ticket, and was never announced as Deputy Delegate-elect by the great president. Thus, the only (minor) legal infraction of the constitution was Shortman's decision to hold his official Deputy nomination until very shortly before I cast my final votes. This was merely bad timekeeping, in my view, and not a serious offence.

This is true, my view was clouded by Lloyd's insistant claims that he was to be the next deputy. I cannot find Shortman ever saying he was to be deputy.
