Race for the Lord Presidency

Post by Lady President B. Carter on Sat Apr 26, 2008 11:08 pm

Following the reisgnation of Lord President Sir Jack Nicholson at 19:47 tonight, four candidates have emerged to challenge for the highest Great Office of State. The current frontfrunner is Emmanuelle Béart, with 38% in polls.

Candidates for Lord Presidency

1. Emmanuelle Béart (44) (Liberal Democratic Socialist Labour Party)
Her constant hair dyes may confuse the politically aware, but our latest Luschian Prime Minister has a reputation for hard-hitting tactics and ruthless political manoevring.
Political Position: Left Wing Socialist
Preferred WA Delegate: Potato Farmers (because she hates Ravenburg-Morovia)
Political Style: Electrifying demagogue with a talent for winning blue-collar support
Key Political Allies: Lord Frasier, Geoffrey Rush and Marion Cotillard

2. John Hurt, Viscount Illface (68) (Monarchist Conservative Party)
The archetypal mercurial manipulator, Hurt has literally been there since the beginning, holding four of the five Great Offices of State in the two most recent Tory governments (1988-99, 2002-08).
Political Position: Right Wing Plutocrat Firebrand
Preferred WA Delegate: Karkelbania
Political Style: Hard-hitting, instinctive hell raiser with a supreme presence at the ballot box
Key Political Allies: Bill Nighy, Michael Gambon and Annette Bening

3. Dame Helena Bonham Carter (41) (Monarchist Conservative Party
The closest candidate we have to a new kid on the block and the most widely respected Foreign Minister of recent years, she has steered Luschia through dangerous waters with a strong hand on the fortune's wheel of diplomacy.
Political Position: Centre Right One-Nation Aristocrat
Preferred WA Delegate: Ravenburg-Morovia
Political Style: Cerebral, cool podium diva
Key Political Allies: Amy Adams, David Hyde Pierce Earl of Niles and Andy Garcia

4. Meg Ryan, Duchess of Ditzyton (46) Monarchist Conservative Party
Ryan is the premier moderate of the Tory party, a socialite-politician who rose to prominence under Nicholson as a reforming Education Minister - her record of service remained untarnished after three years as Interior Minister (2005-08).
Political Position: Moderate Liberal-Conservative
Preferred WA Delegate: Ravenburg-Morovia
Political Style: Deceptively scatty speaker, really a cunning and shrewd one-on-one operator
Key Political Allies: Philip Seymour Hoffman, Ellen Page and Emily Blunt Baroness Blunt of Pradaville

Underground

At a secret underground bunker King Wake meets Hurt
"Sir we are willing to support a monarchist uprising with you as monarch if you so wish. We must do anything we can to stop the liberals and you seem the best candidate for the job. If you so choose the might of Duetaria's greatest war machine is behind you."

Secret Conclave

Post by Lady President B. Carter on Mon Apr 28, 2008 7:16 pm

Ministers Helena Bonham Carter and David Hyde Pierce crouch over iced lattes in a cafe on the outskirts of Brada, Luschia. Hyde Pierce passes his colleague a pamphlet.

"This is a concrete list of ministers who have verified rumoured support for you, HBC," he whispers in a camp conspiratorial tone.

Bonham Carter raises her eyebrow at the top name: Seymour Hoffman.

"Philip?" she asks.

Hyde Pierce nods. "Philip Seymour Hoffman has agreed to support you - as far as he is concerned, if Meg won the tory nomination, then Béart would sweep to victory in the next general election. This is the big picture we're looking at, Helena."

"In which case, I shall call the election for coalition leader on Wednesday. Thank you David."

The two nod amicably, and begin to sip their lattes.
